SURF with the Eagles
We kicked off our summer reading program, Summer Reading is Fun, or SURF, with students signing pledge cards in their Advisory periods.  Last year, only 20% of our students turned in documentation that they read 2 books over the summer.  Research tells us that students who read 4 books on their reading level over the summer make the same reading gains as those who spend their vacation time in summer school.  Therefore, we are encouraging ALL of our students to read this summer!

For more information about our summer reading program, including reading lists and documentation forms, or for a copy of the pledge cards, please click on the links below.

Recognized students also receive a lapel pin marked with an engraved presidential seal.

The President’s Award for Educational Achievement recognizes those students who have made significant academic improvement during the middle school years while demonstrating a strong work ethic and sense of citizenship in the school community.
