Teacher Appreciation Week
Next week (May 2-6) is National Teacher/Teacher Assistant Appreciation Week. Tuesday, May 3rd is recognized as National Teacher Appreciation Day.  

What are some ideas or suggestions for middle school students to show their appreciation to their teachers?

1.  A simple thank you or a hand written card.

2.  Small gift or token of their appreciation.  Teachers love gift cards!  

3.  Plant/Flower for the desk.

4.  Nice book to read.

5.  Sausage Biscuit from McDonalds (maybe for the male teachers!)

6.  Favorite coffee.

7.  Any idea that is student driven. 

We appreciate all that our Teachers/Teacher Assistants do to provide an excellent education for the students at Bull Run Middle School.

Congrats Bull Run Robotics Teams!
This year, all six of the Bull Run Robotics teams made it to the State Championship.  One team, the Ducklings, also qualified for the US Open in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where they competed against teams across the country.  In addition, the Intercontinental Ballistic Fish qualified for the World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky, where they competed against teams from 37 different countries!  A sixth grader, Erin Dougherty, was also there to represent the USA, and her team won 8 of their 10 matches, as well as a Sportsmanship award in their division. While we applaud the students who competed in these highest level events, all of our teams worked hard, competed well, learned a lot, and had fun! 
Congratulations Chorus Students!
Congratulations to Gracie Maxwell, Jolie Dineen, Hunter Brazawski, and Jackson Gardner for being selected to attend the All Virginia Middle School Honors Choir event taking place in Virginia Beach this weekend! These students sent in audition recordings are were chosen by a panel of judges. Over 1,000 students auditioned and only 200 were selected.

Fun Run
Bull Run will be hosting its 2nd annual "Soaring to Wellness" Fun Run on Wednesday, May 18th at 3:30 p.m.  The cost is only $3, and all proceeds will go to the PTSO!  For more information, and to access the permission slip, please click here.

Battlefield Academic Camps - Registration Now Open!
Have fun, while gaining knowledge in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), at the Battlefield Summer Academic Camps. Battlefield’s ILITE Robotics members, along with the Battlefield IT staff, will host a wide range of camps for students of all ages during June and July.  Click here for information and registration.

Pre-Order your Yearbook Today!
Pre-orders are now being accepted for the 2015-16 Bull Run Middle School Yearbook.  Unfortunately, nameplates are no longer available.

To pre-order a yearbook, click here and follow the instructions on the form. Remember, pre-ordering assures that you are guaranteed a yearbook.  

Office 365 for Students
All students who attended BRMS last year can continue to use their Microsoft Office 365 accounts. With this account, students have access to email as well as online versions of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, and OneNote which they can utilize at school or at home. In addition, students will have 5 licenses to download MS Office 2013 on their home computers, laptops, cell phones, and/or tablets.

If students are new to Bull Run and need to establish a 365 account, or if they have forgotten their username or password from last year, they can see Mrs. Elam in the library for assistance, or email ElamJL@pwcs.edu.

Attendance Line
Bull Run Middle School has an automated Attendance Phone Line that you can use to call in any student absences. Simply dial 703-753-7125, and leave a message including the first and last name of the student (with spelling), the student's grade level, your relationship to the student, and reason for missing school. If your student is out sick, please indicate the doctor’s diagnosis or the symptoms your student is having. Thank you! 

Parent Portal
Bull Run Middle School staff members are available to collect parent portal forms in the front office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Parents need to show a photo id and give the signed form (emailed to them within 3 days of initial registration) to a front office staff member to have their account activated.  More information on this process can be found by clicking on the "Parent Portal" tab on the left side of the front page of this website.
