Bull Run Middle School Advisory Council for the 2014-2015 School Year
The purpose of the Bull Run Middle School Advisory Council is to assist the Principal in developing and monitoring the school's strategic plan.  Parent and teacher representatives will provide recommendations regarding the school's programs, budget, and aspects of planning.  The Council also addresses areas of concerns that impact the school's plan and might require review and recommendation.  Please visit the Advisory section of our website for meeting agendas and information.

The Advisory Council meets on the final Thursday each month from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.  The first meeting was held in the school's library on Tuesday, September 30th.

Office 365 for Students
Over the next few weeks, all 8th grade students will be activating their Microsoft Office 365 accounts. Once activated, students will have access to email as well as online versions of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, and OneNote which they can utilize at school or at home. In addition, students will have 5 licenses to download MS Office 2013 on their home computers, laptops, cell phones, and/or tablets. Summer Reading Celebration - Volunteers Needed
Parents: Please join us for our "Reading is a Wild Ride" celebration! Students who turned in their summer reading forms are invited to celebrate their reading success with a DJ, an ultimate obstacle course moon bounce, the Kona Ice truck, and more on Wednesday, October 22nd. Click here to volunteer.  You may sign up for one time slot or multiple slots. Enjoy a free Kona Ice treat as a thank you for your help.
High School Specialty Program Information Nights
Attention parents of 8th graders!  Information nights for high school specialty programs are October 20th from 7pm-9pm at Gar-Field HS, and October 21st, from 7pm–9pm at Stonewall Jackson HS.  For more information, please go to the Counseling Department page and click on the High School Information link.
Announcement on Homework
Bull Run Middle School provides homework to students to help organize new information or build interest in upcoming units of study. Homework also helps students apply new knowledge or skills, revisit knowledge and concepts for review and prepare for upcoming assessments.
 
Please read the Prince William County Regulation on Homework for students in Grades K-12.
Concussion Seminars for 2014-15
All 6th graders and all new students to the county must complete a concussion seminar in person in order to try-out for a sport. The following are the dates for the seminars for the 2014-15 school year:

November 5th - 6:00
January 20th - 6:00
March 17th - 6:00

The online seminar is available to those students and parents who have completed the in-person seminar the previous year. You must print the certificate and turn it in to Mr. Bianco, Athletic Coordinator for Bull Run.

Attendance Line
Bull Run Middle School has an automated Attendance Phone Line that you can use to call in any student absences. Simply dial 703-753-7125, and leave a message including the first and last name of the student (with spelling), the student's grade level, your relationship to the student, and reason for missing school. If your student is out sick, please indicate the doctor’s diagnosis or the symptoms your student is having. Thank you! 

Parent Portal
Bull Run Middle School staff members are available to collect parent portal forms in the front office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Parents need to show a photo id and give the signed form (emailed to them within 3 days of initial registration) to a front office staff member to have their account activated.  More information on this process can be found by clicking on the "Parent Portal" tab on the left side of the front page of this website.
